Aviao

Privacy Policy

Last updated October 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information Aviao collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. It covers the Aviao mobile app and the Aviao website and Business OS at aviao.io (together, the “Service”). By using Aviao you agree to the practices described here.

Information you provide

Account details: first and last name, username, email, phone number, date of birth, and location (country, city, state, ZIP) when you create an account. One Aviao account works on both the app and the website.

Training data: your learning progress, XP, quiz results, ATC practice, checkride-readiness, logbook flights, certificates, and endorsements that you enter or generate.

Content you send: messages, community posts, comments, photos and videos, and support requests.

Business accounts: if you create a flight school, CFI, or other aviation business on Aviao, we store your business profile, services, schedule, and the client records you manage.

Information collected automatically

Basic device and usage information (app or browser version, device type, and in-product activity) to operate and improve the Service. On the website we use your browser’s local storage to keep you signed in and remember preferences; we do not use third-party advertising cookies.

We use your device’s locale only to preset your country/phone code — we do not track your precise GPS location unless you explicitly enable a feature that requests it.

How we use your information

To provide and personalize your training, maintain your Pilot Passport, sync your progress across your devices, enable community and booking features, let businesses you book with manage your lessons, secure your account, and communicate with you about the Service.

We do not sell your personal information.

How your data is stored

Your account and app data are stored securely with our cloud provider (Supabase, which hosts data on managed cloud infrastructure). Access is protected so that you can access only your own data, and businesses can access only the records of their own clients.

Sharing

Pilot Passport sharing is under your control — you choose what to share and with whom, and can make it private at any time.

When you book with, or are added as a client by, an instructor or school on Aviao, that business receives the information necessary to arrange and record your training (such as your name, contact details, and bookings).

We share data with service providers (such as hosting and email) only as needed to run the Service, and when required by law.

Simulator Training

If you use the Aviao Simulator Bridge with Microsoft Flight Simulator, the bridge sends only flight telemetry (position, speeds, attitude, engine and switch states) over your private pairing code. Missions are recorded as Simulator Training in your Pilot Passport and never count as flight time. The bridge does not read files or other data on your computer.

Early-access list

If you join an Aviao early-access or waitlist sign-up, we store the email address you provide only to contact you about Aviao availability and launch updates. You can unsubscribe at any time from any email we send or by contacting us.

Third-party integrations

If you connect an external service (e.g., a logbook or aviation app), we access only the data you authorize, to enrich your Pilot Passport. Imported data is labeled by source where applicable. You can disconnect an integration at any time.

AI features (Avi)

Aviao includes an AI study assistant called Avi. When you chat with Avi you are interacting with an artificial-intelligence system, not a human, and not a certified flight instructor. Avi is powered by a third-party AI provider (Anthropic’s Claude); your messages are sent to that provider to generate responses and are not used to identify you. Avi is for learning and practice only — always confirm real flight decisions with your CFI and official sources. You can report a concern about an Avi response by emailing contact@aviao.io.

Your choices & rights

You can review and edit your profile, control Passport sharing, and delete your account at any time from Settings in the app or at aviao.io/delete-account. Deleting your account permanently removes your Aviao Pilot Passport and associated training records.

Depending on your location, you may have additional rights (access, correction, deletion, portability). Contact us to exercise them.

Children and minors (ages 13+)

Aviao is intended for users age 13 and older, reflecting that student pilots may begin training as teenagers. We verify age at sign-up using your date of birth and do not permit accounts for children under 13. Consistent with the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; if you believe a child under 13 has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

For users under 18, we apply additional safeguards: age verification at sign-up, content filtering and age-appropriate responses from Avi, a clear disclosure that Avi is an AI, a way to report problems, and data minimization (we ask minors not to share personal information with the AI). A parent or guardian may contact us at contact@aviao.io to review or delete a minor’s information.

Changes & contact

We may update this Policy; we’ll revise the “last updated” date and, for material changes, provide notice in the app or on the website.
